Connect to a Host Computer

Multibridge has many uses, and one of the most exciting, is to connect the built-in PCI Express connection to a host computer for a perfect editing and design system. All outputs will play back video, and you can capture video from any of the analog or digital inputs. That gives you more connectivity than other editing systems. And because Multibridge includes the quality of 4:4:4, its the highest quality editing system available. Multibridge even includes reference input and RS-422 remote control ports! PCI Express is commonly found on the latest PC motherboards and allows a much higher speed than any other connection type, all via a simple thin cable that’s included. Using the built-in DVI monitoring port you'll have everything you need to complete your dream editing system.

Connecting to a Traditional Analog World

Connecting to older analog decks such as a Betacam SP™ is easy using Multibridge. The bi-directional SDI to analog and analog to SDI connections, allows you to connect to and from the deck use bidirectional simultaneously. With XLR based pro analog audio, you can connect direct to your analog deck without using multiple converters.

Multibridge uses the highest quality component YUV analog connections so you can take full advantage of Betacam SP's CTDM video recording, for legendary high quality broadcast industry compatibility. Independent NTSC/PAL connections lets you connect to decks such as VHS, or you can use the YUV input to connect to HD analog devices such as HDV cameras. HD Monitoring Solution

You'll love the full resolution HD monitoring that's included with Multibridge via the built in HDMI output connection. Connect any HDMI television or video projector for full HD resolution monitoring at much lower cost than a dedicated HD broadcast monitor. With a built in HDMI output for connection to a wide range of HDMI televisions and video projectors, you can show your clients big screen digital monitoring with full digital quality. Dual Rate Analog CRT Monitoring

One of the biggest monitoring problems in a modern facility is not being able to switch between standard definition and high definition quickly. Often, CRT based video monitors won't allow SDI inputs to change between standard definition's 270 Mb/s and high definition's 1.485 Gb/s SDI rates, so you are forever changing patch cables.

Multibridge added to your CRT monitoring, makes a much lower cost solution for switching between SDI standards. Multibridge instantly detects the SDI input and auto switches between standard definition, HD-SDI and even HD-SDI 4:4:4 RGB inputs because monitors always display pictures when any format of video is connected. Non Linear Editing

Multibridge is the perfect companion for editing software such as Apple’s Final Cut Pro™ on Mac OS X™ and Adobe® Premiere Pro® on Windows™ or Mac OS X™. Blackmagic Design works closely to support all the special features in these software applications, so you get a seamless editing experience. When used with Final Cut Pro™, Multibridge with PCI Express supports multi-stream effects, 10 bit YUV rendering, ProRes 422, multi channel channel audio and more. Multibridge with Premiere Pro supports 5.1 surround sound audio, built-in deck control and much more. Multibridge supports a full 16 channels of HD-SDI audio or 8 channels of standard definition SDI audio using our ASIO audio driver on Windows, or Core Audio on Mac OS X™. For fast setup of editing software, 'settings' are included so you can start work immediately.

Design and Effects

High quality effects and design work has never been easier. Multibridge with PCI Express is fully compatible with the standard software tools for broadcast designers, such as After Effects®, Fusion™, Combustion™ and Photoshop®. For a complete solution for inputting and outputting media, Blackmagic Media Express is included free and allows time code accurate remote capture and output to broadcast decks. Multibridge also includes an RGB QuickTime™ preview output for After Effects and Combustion™. And, you can always preview on the DeckLink video-out interactively as you work, then play pre-renders using real time RAM preview. When doing final rendering of your work, processing quality using the Blackmagic codec is full 16 bit, so you always get the maximum quality advantage of SDI video.

Broadcast Paint and Graphics

Broadcast graphics work, demands absolute quality and seamless integration with software for speed. Adobe Photoshop has become the tool of choice for broadcast designers worldwide because of its industry standard interface and powerful tool set. Multibridge includes complete Photoshop plug-ins so you can capture still frames from the video input, and output graphics to the video output with a simple menu click. 16 bit Photoshop documents can use full 16 bit conversion to 10 bit SDI for the highest quality video. Blackmagic Media Express can then be used to control your broadcast deck remotely and output graphics to tape.
