'Blackmagic Design Singapore Installs Lasergraphics Director 4K Film Scanning System'
Singapore -- 24 February 2009 -- Blackmagic Design Singapore, a leading provider of post-production products and services, today announced that it has upgraded its data-centric post-production workflow with the installation of a Lasergraphics Director 4K film scanning system. The installation adds 4K scanning capability and increased 2K scanning capacity to Blackmagic's two existing Director film scanners, significantly enhancing the company's post production workflow and deliverables."The quality, speed and price of the Lasergraphics Director film scanners are so compelling that I decided to upgrade them, enabling me to retire my Cintel diTTo," said Peter Barber, Managing Director, Blackmagic Design Singapore. "The Director scans 35mm 2K at twice the speed of the diTTo, and it outputs a full 2K image from Super-16mm whereas the diTTo's output was less than 2K. And now, with the Director's true 4K scanning capability, I no longer have to upsample to achieve 4K like I did with my diTTo."
The Director is the fastest pin-registered film scanner in the world, scanning 35mm HD and full aperture 2K at 9.2 fps and 6.8 fps, respectively. For 4K scanning, the Director utilizes a native 4K CCD sensor to scan at 1 fps in full aperture 4K. "When we designed the Director, we strove to create the highest quality, most affordable, and easiest to use scanning solution on the market," commented Dr. Stefan Demetrescu, CEO, Lasergraphics, Inc. "By adding 4K capability to our Director product line, we now offer the full range of options sought by our film scanning customers worldwide."
"We are delighted to provide our friends at Blackmagic the exact configuration they need to cost-effectively customize deliverables based on each client's unique needs," said Steve Klenk, President, Galileo Digital, authorized global distributor for Lasergraphics.
